Mast/stem cell growth factor receptor (SCFR)

Mast/Stem Cell Growth Factor Receptor (SCFR; c-Kit) is a member of the subfamily of receptor tyrosine kinases. It plays a critical role in the activation and growth in cell types such as hematopoietic stem cells, mast cells, malanocytes, and germ cells. Mutations of SCFR are associated with some types of cancer, including melanoma, mast cell disease, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and testicular seminoma.
