Interleukin-1 receptor type 2 (IL-1RII)

IL1 receptor Type II is one of two distinct types of receptors that bind to IL-1. It is a 68 kDa transmembrane protein found on B lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, large granular leukocytes and endothelial cells. IL-1RII has a short cytoplasmic domain and does not transduce IL1 signals. Both the membrane form and the soluble for of IL-1RII may serve as a decoy for IL1 and block binding to IL-1RI.
