Leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein (LRG1)

Leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein (LRG1) is a secretory type 1 acute phase protein. LRG1 belongs to the leucine-rich repeat family of proteins, which have been shown to be involved in protein-protein interaction, signal transduction, and cell adhesion and development. LRG1 is expressed during granulocyte differentiation. It binds strongly to Cytochrome C, suggesting it may be involved in apoptosis. Serum increases have been observed with microbial infections, acute appendicitis, ulcerative colitis and certain cancers.
