Peptidase D (PEPD)

Peptidase D (PEPD) is a 54kDa protein that forms a homodimer. PEPD hydrolyzes dipeptides or tripeptides with C terminal proline or hydroxyproline residues. It serves an important role in the recycling of proline, and may be rate limiting for the production of collagen because of the high level of iminoacids in collagen.
