Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein D (SP-D)

Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein D (SP-D) is a pulmonary surfactant that contributes to the lung's defense against inhaled microorganisms. It is a calcium-binding lectin composed of four trimeric units with a molecular mass of about 516 kDa. Elevated serum SP-D is associated with lung injury.
