Endoglin (Endoglin)

Endoglin is a major glycoprotein of vascular endothelium. It plays an important role in angiogenesis, hematopoiesis, and heart development. Endoglin complexes with signaling receptor TGF-beta and also helps to regulate binding of endothelial cells to integrins and other RGD receptors. Endoglin is expressed in vascular endothelium, chondrocytes and blast cells of term placenta, as well as early stage or activated blood cells. Expression is upregulated during angiogenesis, wound healing, and dermal inflammation. Endoglin has been successfully used as a marker to identify repopulating hematopoietic stem cells.
