Fibrinogen (Fibrinogen)
Fibrinogen is a plasma glycoprotein that is the final common reaction of the coagulation cascade after thrombin cleaves soluble fibrinogen to form fibrin. Low levels of fibrinogen are seen in association with fibrinolysis and liver disease. A high level of fibrinogen is a risk factor for thrombosis and is a strong predictor of cardiovascular risk and stroke, particularly in young adults.
